Practical Learning Experience at Customs Sub-Department of Region II
Field trips and practical learning activities at enterprises and organizations related to students’ fields of study are an important initiative of the University of Finance – Marketing (UFM) in general and the School of Financial and Banking Technology in particular. These activities provide valuable opportunities for students to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world professional practice. They also enable students to gain first-hand exposure to customs procedures, inspection and supervision activities, risk management practices, and the actual working environment of customs authorities.
On July 16, 2026, the Department of Public Finance of the School of Financial and Banking Technology organized a field trip to the Customs Sub-Department of Region II. Participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Dao, representing the University’s leadership, leaders and lecturers from the Department of Public Finance, and students from the Integrated Program (Cohort 23D), specializing in Customs and Import-Export. The visit aimed to enhance students’ practical knowledge and deepen their understanding of state management in customs and import-export activities.

During the visit, students were introduced to the unit’s organizational structure, functions, and responsibilities. They also learned about customs clearance procedures, the application of information technology in customs management, and efforts to combat smuggling and trade fraud. Insights shared by customs officials provided students with a more comprehensive understanding of professional requirements, specialized skills, and the role of the customs sector in the context of international economic integration.

The field trip provided students with valuable practical experience, helping them consolidate their specialized knowledge, develop career orientations, and gain a deeper understanding of the customs sector’s role in economic development, the protection of national interests, and the promotion of international trade.
