The 3rd National Scientific Conference “Finance for Sustainable Development” 2025 Concludes Successfully
With the aim of creating a prestigious academic forum for researchers, economists, and policymakers, on the morning of 15/08/2025 the University of Finance & Marketing (UFM), in collaboration with the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Finance & Economics, the University of Economics – University of Danang, the School of Economics – Can Tho University, and the University of Economics & Law (VNU‑HCM), successfully organized the 3rd National Scientific Conference themed “Finance for Sustainable Development.” The event took place at UFM’s campus, 27 Tan My Street, Tan Thuan Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Viet – Vice‑Rector – delivers the opening remarks.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Viet – Vice‑Rector of UFM – stressed the importance of sustainable development as the world faces resource depletion and environmental pollution. He affirmed that finance plays a decisive role in the success of the national sustainable‑development strategy, in line with Decision No. 368/QD‑TTg of the Prime Minister. The conference provided a venue for scholars and experts to exchange ideas, share experiences, and propose practical policy recommendations for Vietnam. The program featured one plenary and three parallel sessions, attracting many scholars, lecturers, and delegates from universities, research institutes, and enterprises.
The plenary session, from 08:45 to 10:00, was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Viet, Dr. Le Thi Thuy Van, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Tung Lam, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Thanh Duc Hai. Delegates heard three topical keynote presentations:
- Paper 1: Climate finance and implementation of NDC targets – presented by Dr. Le Thi Thuy Van, Deputy Director, Institute of Strategy and Policy on Finance & Economics.

- Paper 3: Carbon risk and the speed of corporate capital‑structure adjustment – presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Tung Lam, Editor‑in‑Chief, Journal of Economic Science, University of Economics – University of Danang.
The plenary session was lively, with many questions from guests and participating scholars.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Phong, University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City asked a question.
After the break, the conference continued with three parallel in‑depth sessions from 10:15 to 11:30, including:
- Session 1: Macroeconomics and policies for sustainable development.
- Session 2: Green finance, environment, and energy.
- Session 3: Corporate finance, banking, and ESG governance.
In his closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Viet once again thanked the co‑organizers, scholars, and delegates. The conference delivered rich insights and lively, practical discussions.
