Final Round of the 3rd Student Scientific Research Competition School of Financial and Banking Technology

Over the past years, student scientific research activities at the School of Financial and Banking Technology have received close attention from the School’s leadership and have continued to develop strongly in both scale and academic depth. At 1:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026, at Tan Thuan Campus of the University of Finance and Marketing, the School of Financial and Banking Technology solemnly organized the Final Round of the “3rd Student Scientific Research Competition.” This was not only a large-scale academic platform but also a place where ideas nurtured through passion and refined through rigorous research could shine and demonstrate their practical value.

Representing the School of Financial and Banking Technology were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Linh – Dean of the School of Financial and Banking Technology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Nga – Head of the Banking Department; Dr. Nguyen Minh Phuc – Head of the Corporate Finance Department; and Dr. Nguyen The Khang – Deputy Head of the Public Finance Department, together with lecturers, members of the Jury, and more than 100 students interested in scientific research activities.

The event was also honored by the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Duy – Deputy Head of the Department of Mathematical Economics and Data Science, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoang Anh – Head of the Department of Financial Technology, Faculty of Banking, Ho Chi Minh University of Banking, together with representatives from the supporting organizations, Smart Train Academy and the UFM Foreign Language and Informatics Center.

In her opening remarks and guidance for the competition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Linh emphasized the importance of student scientific research. She affirmed that scientific research begins with familiar and practical questions, serving as a driving force that enables students to shine in their professional journey and establish their individual identities within the vast world of careers.

This year’s competition went through a challenging journey, from the preliminary round (April 1–8, 2026) to the evaluation round conducted by the School-level Scientific Council (April 9–17, 2026). This year, 88 research topics from 88 teams successfully passed the two rounds to advance to today’s final ranking round. The organizers highly appreciated the students’ outstanding completion of their scientific research projects and expected them to perform to the best of their abilities, achieve the highest results, and continue to pursue other awards at higher-level competitions. At the Final round, the six outstanding teams competed in poster design, research presentation, and direct defense before the Jury.

In addition to the efforts of the participating teams, the Organizing Committee sincerely expressed its appreciation for the support of the sponsors: the UFM Foreign Language and Informatics Center and Smart Train Academy. The sponsors awarded scholarships worth up to VND 120 million. This support served as a significant source of motivation, helping students enhance their professional competencies and prepare for international integration.

The competition featured a Jury comprising Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Nga – Head of the Banking Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Duy – Deputy Head of the Department of Mathematical Economics and Data Science; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoang Anh – Head of the Department of Financial Technology, Faculty of Banking, Banking University; Dr. Nguyen Minh Phuc – Head of the Corporate Finance Department; and Dr. Nguyen The Khang – Deputy Head of the Public Finance Department. With extensive expertise and experience, the Jury served as the evaluators of the competition, providing fair, objective, and accurate assessments and contributing to ensuring the academic quality and success of the program.

At the Final round, the six outstanding teams entered the decisive stage of the competition with two main components: research presentation and direct defense before the Jury. Within the allotted time, the teams presented their arguments, research methods, and findings, and responded to in-depth questions. The research topics were evaluated based on criteria including scientific rigor, creativity, presentation skills, and the teams’ confidence and ability to defend their perspectives. In the final results, first prize was awarded to the research project titled “The impact of economic complexity and financial development on Vietnam’s energy transition”.

The Final round concluded with pride as the highest awards were officially presented to deserving winners, demonstrating the intelligence and persistent efforts of students at the School of Financial and Banking Technology. The commemorative photographs filled with emotions among lecturers, enterprise representatives, and participating teams marked a highly successful competition season and reaffirmed the School’s position in building a professional research environment. It is hoped that the passion ignited by this year’s competition will continue to spread strongly, inspiring future generations of students to continuously challenge themselves and pursue new heights of knowledge.
