SEMINAR WITH EXPERTS IN FINANCE ENGAGING AND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
Over the past nearly 20 years, Vietnam’s stock market has grown strongly and is considered to have great potential. Therefore, career opportunities for those pursuing Investment Analysis are more open than ever.
To meet students’ interest in the Financial Analyst profession, the Faculty of Finance – Banking of the University of Finance – Marketing, in collaboration with Smart Train—the CFA Institute’s Approved Prep Provider in Vietnam—organized the seminar “Career Prospects in Investment Analysis & Core Competencies for Success” on 22/04/2024. The seminar offered UFM students the opportunity to interact, learn, and receive advice from leading professionals so they can plan to build the skills and knowledge needed to achieve career excellence in finance.
Participants from the Faculty included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thuy Hang, Vice Dean; MSc. Le Vo Dai Hai, Head of the Investors Club; Dr. Nguyen Tran Xuan Linh; MSc. Tran Khanh Quynh; along with lecturers and students. Speakers at the talk were Ms. Florence Wong, Director of Partner & Client Solutions, Asia–Pacific, CFA Institute (USA); and Mr. Tra Hong Nhat, Financial Analyst at Prudential Vietnam. The event drew strong participation from Finance – Banking students.
In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thuy Hang, on behalf of UFM, expressed deep thanks to the speakers and guests for creating opportunities and an environment for students to gain a more practical perspective on Vietnam’s economy in general and the financial market in particular. This helps students form clearer orientations and deeper insights into careers in investment finance. She emphasized the vast potential of the financial analyst profession for students and the importance of defining career goals and the competencies needed to achieve them.

Next, Ms. Florence Wong introduced the CFA charter and the career development pathway in Investment Analysis with the CFA qualification. For students in economics and business, the CFA charter is seen as a “golden ticket” for a career path—one of the most important credentials in finance and a benchmark of competence, ethics, and skills in investment analysis.

Continuing the discussion, Mr. Tra Hong Nhat—Financial Analyst at Prudential Vietnam—shared core competencies for success in financial analysis. Being very young, he connected closely with students. Notably, he earned the CFA charter at age 23, so his sharing garnered great interest from the audience.
