Seminar on “Sharing Experiences in Publishing Scientific Papers”

On the morning of January 31, 2026, in Room B.001 at the 778 Nguyen Kiem Campus, Duc Nhuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, the School of Financial and Banking Technology, University of Finance – Marketing, organized a seminar for lecturers and doctoral students in Finance and Banking (the first seminar of 2026) under the theme “Sharing Experiences in Publishing Scientific Papers.”

The seminar attracted many lecturers, doctoral students, and researchers from the School. It aimed to promote academic exchange, enhance scientific research capacity, and encourage the publication of scientific papers in national and international journals.

In her opening remarks at the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Linh, Dean of the School of Financial and Banking Technology, emphasized the role of scientific research and international publications in the School’s strategy for academic, integrated, and sustainable development. She also affirmed that the seminar served as an important forum for lecturers and doctoral students to share experiences and address difficulties encountered during the research and publication of scientific papers.

Opening the thematic session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thai Hung presented the topic “Guidelines for Publishing in Reputable Scientific Journals,” which systematized:

• The 2025 framework for assigning points to scientific papers published in ISI/Scopus-indexed journals, ACI-indexed journals, and domestic journals;
• The list of domestic journals and journals affiliated with ministries, government sectors, regional universities, and research institutions that are eligible for publication points;
• Formatting standards for scientific papers;
• The publication process, from manuscript submission and peer review to revision and publication.

Continuing the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Linh presented the report “Sharing Information on International Scientific Journals,” focusing on the following key areas:

• How to identify and verify journals indexed in Scopus and ISI;
• How to distinguish reputable journals from predatory journals using tools such as Scopus, SCImago, Web of Science, and Beall’s List;
• The role of ORCID and ISSN, as well as academic metrics such as CiteScore, quartile rankings (Q1–Q4), and the H-index, in evaluating journal quality;
• Important considerations for ensuring academic integrity and avoiding risks in international publishing.

The speakers’ experiences in scientific publishing provided practical perspectives, helping lecturers and doctoral students better understand how to select appropriate journals, develop publication strategies, and maximize the likelihood of manuscript acceptance.

The discussion and question-and-answer session was lively, with numerous questions concerning journal selection, responses to peer-review comments, the avoidance of academic pitfalls, and the balance between domestic and international publications. The speakers shared their personal experiences, helping to address common difficulties encountered by lecturers and doctoral students during the research and publication process.

The program then provided doctoral students with time to meet and engage directly with their academic supervisors, facilitating academic connections and long-term research orientation.

The seminar concluded in a serious, open, and academically enriching atmosphere. The event not only contributed to enhancing the research and publication capacity of lecturers and doctoral students but also clearly demonstrated the School of Financial and Banking Technology’s development orientation toward a research-integrated education model, meeting the requirements of international integration and improving the educational quality of the University of Finance – Marketing.
