SEMINAR GUIDANCE ON LITERATURE-REVIEW TOOLS AND AUTOMATIC CITATION FOR MASTER’S COHORT K19
With the aim of supporting postgraduate students in accessing useful tools for scientific research, the Faculty of Finance – Banking (FFB) of the University of Finance – Marketing held a seminar titled “Guidance on Literature‑Review Tools and Automatic Citation” at 8:30 a.m. on 14/04/2024. The seminar was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Linh, Dean of the Faculty of Finance – Banking, with two speakers: Dr. Bui Ngoc Toan, lecturer of the Faculty, and MSc. Pham Minh Tien, editor of the Journal of Finance – Marketing Research.
In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Linh stated: “With the University’s support in recent years, the Faculty’s scientific research activities have made clear progress. Today’s seminar aims to guide and introduce postgraduate students, lecturers, and interested researchers to modern research and citation tools to help save time and improve the quality of their research outputs.”

To begin, MSc. Pham Minh Tien provided guidance on tools that support literature reviews: how to use Google and Google Scholar to search for ideas, build research profiles, and set alerts for topics of interest. He then introduced AI‑assisted tools such as Elicit and SciSpace, which leverage new technologies to save substantial time and effort in literature reviews and improve research quality. In addition, tools such as Meta‑analysis techniques and VOSviewer were presented to support students—especially for qualitative research tasks.

Continuing the program, Dr. Bui Ngoc Toan introduced and instructed students on installing and using Mendeley for automatic citation. The software is highly effective in ensuring citations are performed correctly and saving students’ time.

The seminar offered a wealth of useful knowledge to enhance postgraduate students’ research capabilities. In her closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi My Linh expressed sincere thanks to the two speakers for sharing research tools. It is hoped that, thanks to the seminar, students will find it easier to complete their research papers.
