On October 18, 2025, the Institute of Banking and Finance Technology, University of Finance & Marketing organized a scientific Seminar with the topic “Current Situation and Challenges of Cyber ​​Security in the Finance - Banking Industry”. The program was deployed on the MS Teams platform, with the participation of the Institute's Board of Directors, lecturers, and guests interested in the field of cyber security in the context of digital transformation.

The seminar focused on:

  • Updating the current state of cybersecurity in Vietnam and worldwide, in the context of widespread Internet and smartphone adoption.
  • Analyzing the impact of cybercrime on individuals, organizations, and enterprises.
  • Exchanging experiences and lessons from real‑world cases.
  • Proposing strategies and solutions for information security, contributing to improving the Institute’s training and research quality.

 

Within the seminar, the program welcomed Mr. Le Anh Tu, Specialist at the Information Security Center, Information Technology Division, Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB). With deep expertise and practical experience in banking information security, he analyzed and discussed the seminar’s core topics:

  1. Cybersecurity landscape in Vietnam & globally: rising online fraud, supply‑chain attacks, and ransomware causing major damage.
  2. Impacts on organizations & enterprises: downtime leading to financial loss and reputational damage; notable incidents (CIC Vietnam 09/2025, Allianz 07/2025, Sepah Bank 06/2025).
  3. Individuals in the digital era: facing risks of phishing, spyware, deepfakes, loss of personal data, and compromise of financial accounts.
  4. Typical cases: attacks targeting EVN, European airport check‑in systems, and deepfake fraud in banking.
  5. Strategies & solutions: raising security awareness, multilayer defense with AI/ML, legal‑process compliance, penetration testing, and regular backups.
  6. Future orientation: trends aligned with digital transformation; attack focus on finance–banking–insurance; expanding career opportunities in technology risk management, fraud analytics, and systems auditing.

In addition to providing scientific and practical perspectives, the program created an open academic forum, enabling lecturers and students to access the latest knowledge in cybersecurity. It was also an opportunity for the research team to connect and collaborate, thereby helping enhance training quality and cultivate safe digital skills and integration in the digital era.
