The 9th Olympics in Econometrics and Applications (2024) is a prestigious competition organized by the Vietnam National Student Association in coordination with the Academy of Finance and the Vietnam Institute of Mathematics.

Through three rounds: Round 1 – the OC selected 137 topics for the semifinals; Semifinal – 125 topics received Consolation, Third and some Second Prizes, and 12 outstanding topics were chosen for the final; Final – held at the Academy of Finance, Hanoi, to compete for the top awards (Grand Prize if any), First Prize, and Second Prize.

From the Faculty of Finance & Banking, the topic “The relationship between inclusive digital finance, taxation, and economic growth in the context of financial development,” by students Nguyen Duy Minh, Le Nguyen Thanh Truc, Tran Y Thanh Truc, Hoang Anh Tuan, and Nguyen Ngoc Vy Thao, supervised by Dr. Tran Thi Kim Oanh, was selected as one of the 12 best topics to compete for the top awards.

On 02/06/2024 at the Academy of Finance, Hanoi, the Final of the 9th National Student Scientific Research Competition – Olympics in Econometrics and Applications – took place with exciting competition among 12 teams; the UFM team excellently won Second Prize.

There, in addition to performing well, students of the Faculty of Finance & Banking also had the opportunity to join OC activities, participate in music exchanges, and share their feelings about the competition.

In addition, the University of Finance & Marketing was honored with other high awards at the 9th Olympics in Econometrics and Applications, 2024, including:

- Under the supervision of Dr. Ngo Thai Hung: (1) “Assessing the role of environmental tax, economic growth, and financial development for renewable energy: empirical evidence in Vietnam,” by students Nguyen Le Quynh Anh, Nguyen Thi Diem Trang, Pham Ngoc Ha, and Vu Huong Giang; (2) “Analyzing the time–frequency impact of digital transformation on improving Vietnam’s trade in services,” by students Dong Thanh Vinh, Vu Ngoc Dung, and Nguyen Trinh Linh San—both awarded Third Prize; (3) “Analyzing the relationship between the Bitcoin market and the ASEAN‑8 foreign exchange markets,” by students Le Vu Ngoc Nga, Tran Tien Thao Nguyen, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau, Huynh Ngoc My Huong, and Lam Thanh Thuy; (4) “The impact of geopolitical risk on Vietnam’s financial market,” by students Le Thanh Dang, Le Thanh Duc, and Nguyen Thanh Hung; and (5) “Assessing the impact of climate change, financial development, human capital, and renewable energy on agricultural production in Vietnam,” by students Pham Tien Dung, Lai Kim Hoang, Vo Thuy Hang, and Vo Hong Son—awarded Consolation Prize.

- The topic “Evaluating Vietnam’s green growth efficiency: a two‑stage DEA approach,” by students Phan Thi Tuyet Nga, Nguyen Ngoc Kim Ngan, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, and Nguyen Ngoc Son, supervised by Dr. Nguyen Quyet—awarded Consolation Prize.

These achievements reflect the tireless efforts of students of the Faculty of Finance & Banking and their supervisors, as well as the close attention, guidance, and sound policies of the University and Faculty leadership in promoting student research activities.
