SFBT students of UFM make their mark at the 1st Research With Impact Cup 2025 (RICUP 2025) with two outstanding research projects
The Shool of Finance & Banking Technology (SFBT), University of Finance & Marketing (UFM), congratulates two student teams that won prizes at the Final Round of the 1st “Research with Impact Cup” (RICUP 2025), organized by the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City (UEF) with partner units. The competition seeks and honors creative research ideas with high applicability and positive community impact. This achievement not only affirms strong academic capability but also reflects UFM students’ innovation and applied‑research capacity on the academic stage.
On the afternoon of 17/10/2025, the Final Round featured 10 high‑quality research projects from students of five universities in Ho Chi Minh City. At the event, student teams presented and defended their work before a professional council of scholars and economic‑finance experts. It was an opportunity for students to demonstrate critical thinking, apply knowledge, and propose solutions tied to socio‑economic development.

The student team comprising Nguyen Tran The Dan; Tran Bui Hong Tuoi; Pham Thuy Anh; Nguyen Thuy Thanh Ngan; and Luyen Nhat Tam, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thai Hung, received the Excellent Research Award for breakthrough and high practicality with the topic “Spillover effects between DeFi assets and ASEAN‑6 stock markets.”
The study applies advanced quantitative methods to analyze return spillovers between decentralized finance (DeFi) assets and ASEAN‑6 stock markets. The results offer not only significant academic contributions but also deep implications for policymaking, risk management, and investment strategies amid the strong development of digital finance.

Also in the Final, the team of Vu Nguyen Anh Tuan; Thai Nguyen Thien Kim; Pham Thi Thao Nguyen; An Tran Ngoc Hoai; and Le Thi Thanh, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hang Nga and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Duy, won the Potential for Application Research Award with the topic “Analyzing the spillover and threshold effects of digital transformation on the performance of Vietnamese commercial banks.”
The topic develops a comprehensive analytical framework on the impact of digital transformation on banking operations—a highly topical subject as the finance–banking sector accelerates the shift toward digital business models. The initial results open promising avenues for further in‑depth studies and practical applications in the future.
The achievements of the two research teams are not only a source of pride for the members but also reaffirm UFM students’ training quality, research capability alongside application, and aspiration for integration. They also attest to the University’s steadfast orientation toward practice‑oriented academic development.
In the time ahead, IFBT will continue accompanying and supporting students in developing high‑quality scientific research projects, contributing to the image of a united, developing, and strong collective.
