DCLOSING CEREMONY FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF STUDENTS OF THE FINANCE AND BANKING FACULTY IN 2023
Over the years, scientific research activities of students of the Finance and Banking Faculty have been interested by our leaders and increasingly developed in both quantity and quality. On Saturday morning, October 14th, 2023, at Tan My campus, with the approval of the Faculty's leadership, the Faculty’s Youth group held the closing ceremony of 2023 science activities and launched the 13th "Young Economic Talent" Award in 2024 in order to reward high-award winning scientific research groups and lecturers guiding them. In addition, this is also a sharing session of scientific research experiences for students from lecturers, leading experts in research in the field of economics, finance - banking and students with high achievements in student scientific research competitions.
Additionally, this is also a session for sharing research experience with students, conducted by lecturers and leading experts in the field of economics, finance, and banking, as well as high-achieving students in research competitions.
Among the invited guests attending the conference are MA. From the Finance - Banking Faculty of the University of Finance - Marketing, there were Associate Professor Nguyen Thi My Linh, Dean of the Finance - Banking Faculty; Dr. Le Thi Thuy Hang, Head of the Banking Division; Dr. Tran Thi Kim Oanh, Deputy Head of the Finance, Money, and Insurance Division, along with other lecturers, alumni, and students who were interested in research activities.
In the opening and closing remarks on the student research activities, Associate Professor Nguyen Thi My Linh, Dean of the Finance - Banking Faculty, emphasized the importance of student research and highlighted the dedication and seriousness of the faculty members who guided the students. She acknowledged the increasing significance of student research and the growing number of research projects and student participation from 2021 to 2023.
Over the past three years, the Finance - Banking Faculty has successfully carried out 182 research projects with the participation of 798 students. Furthermore, the number of research projects by students achieving high awards at various levels has been increasing. In 2021, student research projects received 1 award from the Ministry, 1 third prize in the "National Quantitative and Applied Economics Olympics," 3 university-level student research awards, and 10 department-level awards. In 2022, there was 1 encouragement prize in the "National Quantitative and Applied Economics Olympics," 10 department-level awards, and 14 university-level awards. In 2023, there was 1 encouragement prize in the "National Quantitative and Applied Economics Olympics," 10 department-level awards, 7 university-level awards, and participation in higher-level competitions is ongoing.
In addition, the research projects by the students have been published in reputable international journals indexed in Scopus Q4. In 2021, one group of students had their work published in a Scopus Q4 journal. In 2022, one group had their work published in a domestic journal, and another publication was presented at an international conference. In 2023, three groups of students had their work published in reputable domestic journals with a score of 1 or higher, such as the Journal of Economics and Development, Journal of Open University of Ho Chi Minh City - Economics and Business Administration, and Journal of Commercial Science. These achievements in the 2023 academic year served as a basis for the Finance - Banking Department, the faculty members as mentors, and the students to continue striving and planning research and academic activities for the year 2024.

During the ceremony, representatives from various sponsors awarded scholarships to students with outstanding achievements in the 2023 research activities. The company Smart Train presented 49 scholarships to students as follows: First Prize - 50% scholarship for the entire ACCA course and 40% scholarship for the entire CFA course; Second Prize - 45% scholarship for the entire ACCA course and 35% scholarship for the entire CFA course; Third Prize - 40% scholarship for the entire ACCA course and 30% scholarship for the entire CFA course; and Encouragement Prize - 40% scholarship for the entire ACCA course and 30% scholarship for the entire CFA course. The total value of these scholarships exceeded 3.2 billion VNĐ.
Ms. Bui Thi Thao Nguyen – the training consultant representing Smart Train Academy awarded scholarships to students with high achievements in science research activities.
Representatives from the Investment Consulting and Estate Management Company FIDT awarded 16 scholarships for the Comprehensive Personal Financial Planning course and 33 scholarships for the Basic Personal Finance course. The total value of these scholarships amounted to 477 million VND..
Mr Ngô Thành Huấn – The Director of FIDT Investment Consulting and Estate Management Company awarded scholarships to students with high achievements in scientific activities.
Representatives from the Kim Nhung TOEIC English Center awarded 50 full scholarships for the TOEIC exam preparation courses and 10 scholarships covering 50% of the tuition fee for the TOEIC exam preparation courses. The total value of these scholarships reached 140 million VND.

Furthermore, the program also organized a talk show for students to interact with industry experts and former students who have achieved high achievements in research competitions in the fields of economics, finance, and banking. This was a valuable opportunity for students to exchange ideas and learn research experiences from these experts and pioneers. The guest speakers at the talk show included Mr. Hoang Son Giang, M.Sc. - Head of Scientific Management and Project Development Department, Youth Scientific and Technological Development Center, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union; Dr. Le Hoang Anh - Head of Research and Technology Transfer Department, Institute of Banking Science and Technology Research, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking; Mr. Thai Duy Tung, M.Sc. - Startup Project Advisor, Center for Innovation, Startup, and Technology Transfer, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry; and Ms. Ma Thi Ngoc Ha, a student from the CLC_20DTC03 class, representing the group of students who achieved first prize in the 2023 Department-level Student Research Competition.
